✝️ War in Israel update & why I hate being a Christian.

Honest thoughts on the Israel news today

On Saturday morning, a notification popped up on my phone.

That’s how I found out…

For the first time in 50 years, Israel is at war.

The militant group Hamas barraged Israel with a surprise attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on Hamas. The toll so far:

  • Over 700 Israelis killed

  • Over 260 were simply attending a music festival

  • Over 100 civilians taken as hostages (children + elderly + US citizens)

  • Over 560 Hamas militants killed in Israeli counterattack

And this is why I hate being a Christian.

Will God show mercy to civilian victims? Will His infinite wrath be dismissed? Because if it were me, I’d make an exception. I’d appear to them in the afterlife and hand every victim a pass for eternal salvation.

But the Bible doesn’t give this kind of answer.

Perhaps my dispute with God is a good thing. It’s proof that He’s not a deity of my own making. God’s cosmic orchestration is beyond my comprehension.

While I do not know with absolute certainty the fate of any individual, I can trust the character of a loving, just, and merciful Lord as revealed in the Bible. Somehow, God is able to perfectly reconcile all three qualities.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

While the Israel-Palestine conflict continues, we remember that God’s desire for every individual’s redemption should cascade down to us.
